Rowledge Tennis Club is a small LTA registered club situated in the heart of the village next to the village recreation ground. Membership is over 200 with half being Juniors. The Club is run by elected Committee Members, under the Club Rules, raising income from Membership fees. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join, you don’t have to be a good player (though any monster hitters out there could be useful on the teams!) but we hope that if you decide to join you enjoy playing tennis. The club is an associate of the LTA and this allows us to use advice and guidance from the LTA and, most importantly, means we have an allocation of Wimbledon tickets. We run a ballot for all paid up members in the Spring.
Our Junior and Adult Coaching Programmes are run by Matt Marlow, an LTA level 4 coach. We also run several Mens and Womens League Teams competing against other Clubs, as well as our own annual Tournament, and a few social gatherings thrown in.
The club has two hard surface courts and both are floodlit with play allowed up until 10pm. These floodlights are free of charge to members and the tokens can be found in the boxes just below the floodlight switches. Most of the time the courts are available for general use but there are also some Scheduled Weekly Sessions.
We have attained TennisMark Accreditation from the LTA which is a way of improving standards and best practice at tennis venues. The Committee continues to work hard to maintain these high standards.
